Default Sport Rider Magazine Sport Bike Motorcycle Suspension Settings

While doing my fiddling to get ready for RA, I had forgotten what my suspension settings were and where they came from. So I did some searching again and remembered that they had come from this Sport Rider list of all the bikes they have ever tested. It was extremely helpful to me so I thought I'd pass it along. At least I'll know where to find it next time!

Neato! My XB12R is set up very close to that. Also WOW the '03 XB9R setting they have there are weird. That's funny, I think the bikes are Identical. Zoinks seems to be the same as mine.

I've got to take exception with this list. What are they saying the rider's weight is? Wouldn't that make a great difference in the setup? I take it these are suggested starting points, yeah?

Ya, I couldn't find weight. I think that's a big deal. I've set mine up for a 220 pounder, aggressive settings. That's 30 pounds more than I weigh. It was very close to those setting in the link.

Not having the test rider's weight is definitely an issue, but I didn't even have starting point, so it worked for me. The settings from that page I tried were definitely an improvement. I recently picked up an owner's manual off of ebay and its got the factory settings which are slightly different so I may fiddle around between what I've currently got and those sometime. I'd like to find somebody at the track who can add some expertise so I'm not just fiddling though.

Tom, zoink and I pitted with Zane and Josh at VIR on 10-19-2009. Maybe you could find Zane at a NESBA event and get some pointers. Zane has and RC51 and Josh a 1000RR with the camera.

DOOD. I can't believe I just saw your post. I was there! It was like a freaking Honda twins party with all the RCs running around.

Does he have any more video with another RC in it, maybe with a 91 on it? It would be interesting to see the differences between then and now.

I actually got my suspension set up at Go-Race this winter and the first time I tried it was back at Road Atlanta a couple weekends ago. Felt fantastic for the first time (MAJOR improvement), but I'm probably going to be tweaking for a while. Going to a taller tire this weekend so it should be interesting to see if my now more aggressive geometry gets too aggressive.
