Default Bike tune,Power Commander

Does anybody know of a good bike shop they have experience with, Within an hour or so of Martinsville,VA. (I live in Stuart,But most people don't know where that is)
Possibly Roanoke, Greensboro or Winston Salem,NC areas?
I'm looking to have a Power Commander installed and tuned, Dyno tuned preferably. Im working overseas and want to have the bike ready to ride when I get home in April.

The install is easy and painless if you have your own tools and a seim-decent understanding of basic mechanics. As far as tuning goes, I installed a map from DynoJet that best fit my bike's current mods and it's running great. Having it dynoed and tuned may be the easiest route to a perfect air/fuel ratio throughout the rpms at different throttle positions. DynoJet also makes an "Autotuner" that is suppost to analyze o2 data and prompts trims. I have read of too many problems with this autotuner on my 09' R1 so have stayed away from it for now, until all of the bugs are worked out.

I'm pretty sure I could install the PC myself. I would just rather have it professionally tuned than grabbing a map off the internet that matches my mods. I'm sure that mite work fine tho. Also there was an issue with a skip I need checked out. Tuned up the bike, Replaced the plugs last time I was home and the skip pops back up before I left. The bike sits most of the year and i only get to drive it a few weeks when I make it home. But that's a whole different story.
I'm just looking for someone to take care of it and have it tuned right, Ready to ride when I hit the ground. Because of my limited time home I would rather ride than spend a few days fine tuning my bike. Tho that would give me a good reason to get out of the house and keep "test driving it".

What your wanting to do is definitely the way to go from what I've heard. Even with a map with your mods, every bike is slightly different depending on how its been used, was broken in, how many miles, etc., so a custom map will get you the most gains.

That said, I've got a PCIII on my RC51 I installed myself. I did a little research and downloaded all the maps I could. The ones that I found had the best reviews I tried out on my own, on the street. I went through like 3 or 4 and picked the one I liked. I keep meaning to do this on the track, but its kind of a pain to get to the PC to attach the computer with the solo tail on. I got phenomenal results on the bottom end of the power curve. Its definitely smoother, but then the RC is notoriously bad down there. I feel like the mid to upper range though isn't optimal, but I just haven't had the time (and money because right now track time is more important to me) to get it to the dyno. Suspension was a better mod in my mind so that is what is getting done at the moment.

When I do get it to the dyno, I'm planning on taking it to Redline in Yorktown, VA. If you don't find a place closer, I've heard from others its a good place to go. Its $300 and they need your bike for a whole day to get it done (but you can set the actual day up in advance IIRC).

i can't help you on any suggestions in VA, but i agree that bringing the bike to a reputable dyno tuner will make a huge difference.

my R6 had a generic map and i had it tuned by a well-known shop and they were able to get me +7 Bhp to the rear w/ a much smoother power curve.

i don't need the extra power but it's nice to have and the power curve being smoother was a huge +

There is wisdom in counsel...that's why these forums rock. The more questions and input you get, the better informed you will be come decision time. I posted your question on the following forum if you want feedback and input from multiple forums:

Yorktown VA and Richmond seem to be the feedback for now. I was wondering if there's something a bit closer to Martinsville like Greensboro or Winston-Salem...even Raleigh NC would only be about 2 hours max from there.

Exclamation

This guy is in Charlotte. He's good! http://www.leesperformance.com/

He dyno tuned a friends '08 GSXR 1000 to I believe 196 RWHP. It had cams, full exhaust, power commander, and special sauce. Made a very SICK drag bike.

There's a place, cycle shack in roanoke (williamson rd) that has a dyno according to a friend. I don't have any reviews or experience to pass along to you about them though, just that it may be there.

Here's a review: They F'ing SUCK. Ok, let me be more specific. Their customer service sucks. I don't have any experience using their dyno, but I refuse to give them any of my money. I can confirm they have a dyno, however.
